La Clandestina is a diverse array of Tairawhiti musicians who draw on their local and international roots (Mexico, Brasil, USA, Philippines, Aotearoa) to present often latin-influenced sounds featuring strong vocals, guacamole rhythms and innovative brass lines.
The band consists of multi instrumentalists and vocalists; a driving percussion section, a range of brass instruments, plus clarinet, flute, guitar, bass and ukelele. They enjoy playing a range of original and traditional Brazilian, Mexican, and other World music that inspires dancing and lots of fun.
