Two forces always operate whether represented by two people, an electrical system, within the human body or in the greater cosmic experience; Explore the Yin and Yang of life, how the duality can cause challenges and learn tools to create more equanimity, balance your nervous system, the brain hemispheres and subtle inner forces.

We are caught in the duality of life, the inner imbalance between on our own body and mind and an external imbalance between males and females.

This workshop will explore the two forces which always operate whether in the human body, an electrical system, or in the greater cosmic experience; the feminine/masculine, Yin/Yang, Ida/Pingala, mental energy/physical energy, sun/moon. Para-sympathetic/sympathetic nervous system etc.

The word Hatha Yoga, is actually made up of Ha and Tha and represents these two forces. The main aim of all yoga practice is to create balance in these opposing forces so that a third force, the spiritual energy can awaken. The balancing of these forces, also allows for more equanimity in daily life.

This workshop will be theoretical and practical including simple postures and breathing practices to create balance and gain a deeper understanding of the aim of yoga. We will explore the opposites within ourselves, represented by the nervous system, by the mind and the body, the two hemispheres of the brain, the male and female forms. We will also touch on how the extremes express in our lives and ways to balance the masculine and feminine energies within ourselves and externally as well. Participants will take away a greater understand of the purpose of yoga, tools for their own balance and ways to apply this to daily life.

Presenter Bio:

Swami Karma Karuna is a founding member and director of Anahata Yoga Retreat, New Zealand, an international yoga teacher, inspirational speaker and writer with more than 25 years of experience. She imparts the basics of yoga with creativity and depth whilst also expounding on more profound topics of prana, chakras, meditation, chanting, yoga philosophy and lifestyle. Her passion is inspiring people to bring yoga off the mat and into daily life. Swami Karma Karuna’s wide range of teaching spans varying settings and cultures. She travels internationally, dedicated to imparting simple and powerful techniques for transformation.
