All weather event
We want to let you know that we have a large spacious marquee for workshops (Te Ra), a large Lunasa cafe marquee, and other spaces to be warm, dry, and find shade from the sun. We can adapt our plans to take account of the weather, yet whatever the weather we will be there during the time of Lughnasadgh (Lunasa) to facilitate the sharing of knowledge, inspiration, music, creativity, connection and aroha.
Practical reminders
Please note:
- It can be hot & dry, wet, rainy and frosty and we would like you to be prepared for four seasons in one day. Bring plenty of warm clothes, changes of clothes, wet weather gear, gumboots, sun protection, and lots of warm bedding and blankets for being out at night. Even on a hot day the temperature can drop a lot at night.
- Earplugs – bring earplugs to meet your need for a good night’s sleep.
- A torch (with spare batteries) is useful.Â
- If you bring one, make sure to turn your cell phone to airplane mode, and turn off wifi and bluetooth, as there is little to no reception on site, otherwise very soon your cellphone will run out of battery. This also helps to minimise the amount of EMFRs in the shared spaces.
- There are no rubbish or recycling bins on site. Everyone needs to be prepared to pack out all that they bring. Washed recycling and rubbish can be taken to the local refuse stations in either Takaka, Motueka or Nelson. There are areas for composting food scraps on site. There is plenty of food available in the cafes at very reasonable prices, to assist with being on the mountain for several days without needing to cook.
- And will you remember to bring your own plate, cup and cutlery? There are no single use items or disposable plates used for food & refreshments in the cafes.
- There will be a dishwash station close to the cafes for people to use.
- Bring only earth-friendly products for dishwashing, shower etc. No chemicals. If you go for a dip in the stream do not use any wash products in it.
- Look after the living water and conserve it all times.
- Bring everything you need for the duration of your stay on the mountain.
- Once you have set up camp your vehicle needs to remain parked for safety reasons.
- Please do not camp or park under trees as healthy looking beech trees can easily drop large branches.Â
- Leave the forest undisturbed as it is home to many species that need the ground cover.Â
- No fires, no fireworks, no candles, and take great care if you are cooking, bring a fire blanket and/or extinguisher.Â
- The land has a wide range of natural hazards, such as sink holes, hidden holes and crevasses, uneven ground, cliffs, running water, and many other natural features. You enter onto this land at your own risk, and agree to take responsibility for your own safety and belongings.
- Don’t bring dogs. We can’t have heaps of dogs around for a variety of reasons. Only animals that have had a prior approval in writing for a particular reason will be allowed on site and are required to be on a lead at all times. Make sure to make arrangements for your pets to be looked after at home or elsewhere, thankyou.
- Composting toilets are for biodegradable items only. Bring a bag and be prepared to take away any items that contain plastic and dispose of such items properly when you go home.
- Will you uphold our request that all spaces where people gather, eg marquees, dancefloor, cafes, around the fire, are free of smoking and vaping ? We would love it if you would support us on this, and just find a nice place away from others, so that we can all enjoy the purified air that the trees and mountain provide.
