
Bulgarian polyphonic singing- Bazurka
This workshop will be led by Bazurka’s vocalist Briar Prastiti, with a couple more of the band there to support with the other harmonies. The aim and intended outcome of this workshop is to give participants the enjoyable and enriching experience of singing in polyphony, and sharing a little bit of the culture of the Balkans with Aotearoa.
Presenter Bio:
Briar (1992) has been a freelance composer for more than a decade, and completed a Masters of Musical Arts in composition at the New Zealand School of music. She is a New Zealand Greek composer and vocal performer, most noted for her work in film, orchestra, theatre music, songwriting, producing, and her complex and culturally diverse vocal palette. She is an active performer as a vocalist, having performed locally and internationally with numerous ensembles of diverse cultures, as well as her own music.
