This workshop celebrates the rich cultural tapestry of Africa and Brazil, delving into the rhythmic and expressive movements deeply rooted in African traditions. We will explore the concepts of identity, creativity and authenticity through movement inspired by traditional West African rhythms.

Presenter Bio:
Melina was born-and-raised in Argentina with an insatiable love for dance. She’s been grooving to Afro Brazilian, Afro Guinean, and Afro Cuban beats for a solid 15 years, spreading the dance bug from Argentina to Mexico and now in the stunning landscapes of New Zealand. She’s been sharing her dance passion and knowledge in Queenstown.
Camila is an Afro dancer, therapeutic dance facilitator and a yoga teacher. Since 2012, she has specialized in traditional West African dance and rhythms. Camila lives in Waiheke Island where she has been working her own dance approach combining different techniques of traditional African dance, conscious body training, improvisation, therapeutic dance, yoga and expressive movement. She understands dance as a connection with ourselves, others and nature. She offers regular dance and yoga classes in Auckland area.
