Explore the rhythms of West African culture dance. This is an opportunity for people to experience the joy of moving together and connecting with the drum, doing so to traditional West African rhythms. You will leave feeling connected to your body and your community. All experience levels welcome.
Presenter Bio:
Koffie comes from a family of master drummers and dancers in the Volta Region of Ghana and therefore is nurtured in the traditions and cultural practices of his ancestors. Music is part of who he is and his passion is to share the joy that this music brings to those who want to learn more. Koffie is an internationally recognised and respected performer and teacher who now travels New Zealand wide promoting the West African culture through Drumming and Dancing with the support of drummers and dancers who share the same vision.
His work over the last 20 years is a true testament to the hard work and passion he has for his culture. In 2013 Koffie migrated to New Zealand and founded the Kadodo West African Drum and Dance School. For the past 5 years, Koffie has been facilitating drum and dance workshops and performing at events all over New Zealand.
