Freedom to Flourish (F2F)

23rd - 26th January 2026

Canaan Downs – Pikikirunga

Freedom to Flourish is a self-organising gathering of camping, music, dance, knowledge-sharing, relaxing, connecting.

Enjoy some quality time at Canaan Downs, and co-create a shared experience that is purely the result of what everyone brings to it.

Freedom to Flourish 2026 is the beginning of a toroidal field research adventure into what a festival could become when we orient ourselves towards a de-centralised space for motivated, responsible people willing to cooperate together; it is creative space for people to have input, to share ideas, and to draw on collective intelligence to vision a new context for future events that are inspiring, collaborative and high quality.

F2F isn’t an organised festival as such, after 20 years we wanted to have a year off : )
It is about investigating another context for people to gather together, with less central organising from us, and possibilities for people to collaborate to make cool things happen.
We see the structure more like a torus, with each individual being a strand of energy in the toroidal field, circulating and replenishing itself, as in heart energy.

F2F is about active participation in helping out and doing useful things, knowledge-sharing, playing music, dancing, socialising, connecting…what skills/wisdom/musicality/inspiration might you like to bring to share?

To attend Freedom to Flourish 2026, Luminate membership is required.

See below for more information, it’s easy to sign up via the website.

A unique opportunity to connect with like-minded people who value compassion, respect, self-responsibility, freedom and integrity, whilst you immerse in the beauty and wisdom of nature at Canaan Downs – Pikikirunga.

More details about Freedom to Flourish 2026

F2F is an investigation into selecting and nurturing the optimal seeds of an authentic co-creative culture; transforming a prior festival construct into a spacious new context; a functional, intentional, collaborative, self-organising gathering of creative heart-centered people being in service to something greater than ourselves.

  • Freedom to Flourish is a creative space for people to bring a wide range of talents and wisdom in the spirit of active participation.
  • F2F is also a place to share ideas, have input, and be part of visioning future events that are inspiring, collaborative and high quality.
  • All participants at F2F need to sign up for membership in advance via the website. The subscriptions are used towards covering the costs of access to this land and other basic expenses.
  • Be ready to be extraordinarily self-reliant : ) Everyone is invited to notice things that need doing and to assist where possible; to consider arriving a day or two early to help with setting up, pitching a marquee and other practical tasks; to help out during the gathering looking after showers, toilets, kitchen area, shared spaces, resources, firewood, generator, lighting, audio and many other things; to stay on for an extra day or two at the end to help with packing down.
  • Everyone will need to bring all of their own food and refreshments and everything that they require for their entire time camping on the mountain. Bring extra warm clothes for the evenings, even if it is hot during the day, temperatures can drop at night.
  • People are welcome to bring appropriate goods and useful things to trade and exchange, or to circulate as gifts. As always, single use items, disposables or any things that generates rubbish are not wanted.
  • There will be a marquee for knowledge sharing and creative sessions, and outdoor spaces to utilise. Anyone is welcome to offer to host a topic for shared discussion, or to facilitate a session such as dance, movement, creative skills, holistic well-being and other activities.
  • Note that F2F is not a place for politics, protests or any political agendas. Please read the agreement for members.
  • F2F can be a place for heartfelt connection and joyful celebration, recognising the generous abundance of nature and the gifts of this beautiful world.
  • The intention is to practice personal responsibility and group cooperacy, investigating processes for people to collaborate together to optimise the integrity and essence of the task needing doing or topic in discussion. The proposal is a new context for knowledge sharing that doesn’t reply on a central expert, and instead is more like a torus, ie a group co-sharing of knowledge, research and ideas. People experienced in facilitating groups are welcome to support those proposing to host a knowledge sharing topic.
  • Music & workshops can be self-organised and time slots can be chosen & negotiated according to suitability. (Music artists and presenters are not being booked or scheduled in advance).
  • There will be amplified music in the evenings; if a quiet camping place is wanted, consider choosing a place away from the event space, there are extensive camping possibilities on this land, just not under trees : ) Feel free to bring a bicycle to get around.
  • The sound system and generator will be run from early evening for uplifting conscious music, from djs and musicians. Live music that is original and/or traditional is what’s wanted, not cover songs. Upbeat music for dancing is ideal.
  • Musicians and djs using the PA will need to bring their own music gear, cables & equipment, and be prepared to mix their own sound via the on-stage mixer if needed.
  • Acoustic (un-amplified) music can happen anywhere appropriate during the daytime and evenings.
  • The gathering will be at the Ezen, with the stage, dancefloor, fire circle, toilets, water and sinks for dishwashing. There’s an outdoor kitchen area for shared cooking for those who want to.  (By the way, the name was chosen for that space on this land as Ezen may derive from ancient origins, potentially connected to the term for “festival” or “celebration”).
  • Consider bringing camp chairs, blankets etc for comfort when sitting and hanging out in the event space.
  • Parents can team up with other parents to co-create activities for children and support a family friendly gathering. Children under 13yrs can attend for free.
  • There is a need to be mindful of EMFs as some people are noticing sensitivity to these frequencies. We prefer to have no mobile phones or smart devices in the gathering space. Also there is minimal to no cell reception on site anyway. The request here is to keep any devices on airplane mode with wifi and bluetooth off in the settings.
  • There is also a request to keep shared spaces smoke & vape free so they can be enjoyed by everyone, and that F2F is not a place for intoxication.
  • Camping is in alignment with terms such as no camping under trees, no fires, no sound systems or generators, and no dogs or pets unless by prior written agreement.
  • Everyone needs to pack out all that they bring and leave no trace. There are no rubbish bins or recycling on site.
  • Camping can be close by the Ezen or further away for a quieter place, whatever supports enjoyment of being on the mountain and having a beautiful time in nature with other like-minded people.
