Freedom to Flourish (F2F)

23rd - 26th January 2026

Canaan Downs – Pikikirunga

Freedom to Flourish is a self-organising gathering of camping, music, dance, knowledge-sharing, connecting.

Enjoy some quality time at Canaan Downs, and co-create a shared experience that is purely the result of what everyone brings to it.

Freedom to Flourish 2026 is also the beginning of a research adventure into what festivals could become when we orient ourselves towards a de-centralised space for motivated, responsible people willing to cooperate together; it is creative space for people to have input, to share ideas, and to draw on collective intelligence to vision future events that are inspiring, collaborative and high quality.

F2F is free to attend for people with a 2026 friend of Luminate membership.

Being a private gathering for members, supports the desire for alignment in values that matter, and a shared culture of how we do things.

Connect with like-minded people who value compassion, respect, self-responsibility, freedom and integrity, whilst you immerse in the beauty and wisdom of nature at Canaan Downs – Pikikirunga.

If you would like to join us at F2F 2026,  here’s an overview of how things could flow with ease, functionality and harmony :

  • To be an authentic de-centralised gathering requires everyone to be extraordinarily self-reliant, to notice things that need doing and to help out where possible; eg arriving a day or two early to help with setting up, pitching a marquee, and other practical tasks; during the gathering looking after showers, toilets, kitchen area, shared spaces, resources, firewood, generator, lighting, audio and many other tasks; staying on for an extra day or two at the end to help with packing down.
  • Everyone will need to bring all of their own food and refreshments and everything that they require for their entire time camping on the mountain.
  • The gathering will be at the Ezen, with the stage, dancefloor, fire circle, toilets, water and sinks for dishwashing.
  • There is an outdoor kitchen area for shared cooking for those who want to.
  • People are welcome to bring goods and useful things to trade and exchange, or to circulate as gifts.
  • Camping can be close by the Ezen or further away, whatever supports enjoyment of being on the mountain and having a beautiful time in nature with other like-minded people.
  • Camping is in alignment with terms such as no camping under trees, no fires, no sound systems or generators, and no dogs or pets unless by prior written agreement with conditions of access.
  • Parents can team up with other parents to co-create activities for children and support a family friendly gathering.
  • A sound system and generator that we will provide can be run in the evenings for uplifting conscious music from djs and upbeat original live music. Musicians and djs using the PA will need to bring their own music gear, cables and equipment et al. and be prepared to mix their own sound via the on-stage mixer. Acoustic (un-amplified) music could happen anywhere appropriate during the daytime and evenings.
  • There will be a marquee for knowledge sharing and creative sessions, and other spaces to utilise.
  • Anyone is welcome to propose to facilitate a topic for shared discussion or to facilitate a session such as dance, movement, creative skills, holistic well-being and other activities.
  • We are not planning on scheduling any music or workshops prior to the gathering. Instead, time slots for music and workshops can be self-organised and negotiated according to interest expressed and other factors at the time.
